Thanks for the note, Olivier. You see very much what I see in the practice of strategy. It is an orgy of analyses that has an underlying assumption that if I analyze enough, something could will pop out.

I don’t so much blame MBAs as I blame MBA education. These poor hapless MBAs are taught that strategy is a bunch of tools. I wish I could say that it has changed for the better in the 15 years since you graduated: it has in fact gotten worse.
