1. Careful. Just because the Internet repeats something doesn’t mean it is true. There is no confirmation that Humprhey created SWOT. He might have and maybe not. Those who have studied the question in detail say that it is inconclusive.

2. Agreed. SWOT is a tool for planners that has been adopted by people attempting to do strategy.

3. Bruce Henderson preceded Mike (and I was a fifteen-year colleague of Mike so if anything I would be biased in favor of Mike) by over a decade in laying the foundations of strategy. He was practicing strategy at his firm, BCG, as of 1963. Mike was in high school when Bruce founded BCG.
